§ 19-5. Fortunetellers, itinerant prohibited; privilege taxes.

  • (a)

    Itinerant prohibited. Fortunetelling, in consideration for the payment of anything of value, by itinerant fortunetellers within the Parish of Rapides, State of Louisiana, outside the corporate limits of incorporated villages, towns and cities is prohibited.

    (b)

    Itinerant defined. By "itinerant fortuneteller" is meant any person engaged in fortunetelling who has not established and maintained a bona fide residence in Rapides Parish for at least one year.

    (c)

    Privilege tax. Any person engaged in fortunetelling shall pay to the police jury of Rapides Parish a privilege tax of five hundred dollars ($500.00) per annum.

    (d)

    Violations, penalty. Anyone who violates this section shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) or imprisoned for not more than twelve (12) months or both.
